Bagru Dabu Handblock Prints
Bagru Dabu, a traditional printing style from Bagru, Rajasthan, India, uses natural dyes and a mud-resist technique called DABU.
The craft involves applying a mud paste(from ingredients like limestone, wheat powder, tree gum, and black soil) to fabric (100% cotton) with carved wooden blocks, allowing the paste to dry, and then dyeing & washing the fabric. The dyed areas create the design as the mud paste resists the dye, leaving light-colored patterns on a dark background.
