Slow Fashion | takes time to visualise & create, lasts long and wears well
Slow Fashion is what we are all about....hmmm...but what is slow fashion?
Born in 60’s, growing up in Bangalore, I belong to the era of slow fashion…no malls, no multi-brand apparel outlets, no online Myntra, Nykaa or meesho...only weekend window shopping with my sister at Commercial Street!
Clothes were generally stitched by Amma or my tailor uncle Mr. Krishna Rao (lovingly called “Manka”) down the street. After buying mostly cotton printed material from either Fazal's, Sterling House, The Green Shop (still some of the best shops for printed material!) I would give “Manka” designs to stitch and voila…SLOW FASHION!
The resulting wardrobe lasted for years together, with hand-me-downs sometimes used by my daughter even now.
Despite the advent and popularity of cheap Fast Fashion buy-it, use-it, throw-it culture, Slow Fashion continues to endure with fashion connoisseurs who value their wardrobe and what it stands for!
